A Team Arts Education
Alexander McQueen supports A Team Arts Education, a community youth arts education organisation located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. A Team Arts Education works to support the aspirations of young people to enter arts and design careers and acts as a catalyst for progress and attainment in an inner-London district with one of the fastest-growing, youngest and most diverse populations in the UK.
“At a time when schools and local authorities are reducing their arts budgets and provision, we still need the arts to help bring about a positive recovery and come together after the Covid-19 pandemic. Working with Alexander McQueen will provide inspiration, hope and opportunities to an area that has established links to the fashion and textiles industries that are now hidden through layers of history and a changing urban landscape. As well as financial support, Alexander McQueen offers live experiences through workshops run by the house’s design, textile, print, embroidery and communications teams. In collaboration with the Central Saint Martins Insights Programme led by Berni Yates offered to generations of young people who may not have access to arts subjects in school, the initiative backs up vital social enterprise opportunities and the dynamic progression of diverse talent throughout the fashion industry. Many young people are not able to take up GCSE or A levels in creative subjects. A Team Arts Education works with them to help them build portfolios so they can apply to an art Foundation course and further their knowledge on the sector and pathways to achievement in higher education. A Team Arts Education C.I.C. is based at The Brady Arts and Community Centre at 192-196 Hanbury Street, E1 5HU. It sits in the heart of the community, building trust with families and local communities to enable young people and their parents to get a broader view into education in the creative sector and careers and education support at college and university level.
