McQueen Spring Summer 2025: Llansteffan Castle

Llansteffan Castle

Llansteffan Castle, Carmarthenshire, Wales.

The backdrop for the McQueen Spring Summer 2025 Campaign.

Overlooking Carmarthen Bay, Llansteffan Castle stands as a weathered sentinel. Built in the 12th century, once a fortified stronghold commanding the River Tywi Estuary, the fortress was utilized for its strong tactical position, bearing witness to centuries of Welsh history.

Its architecture offers a tangible link to those who lived and fought within its walls: crumbling fireplaces, offering glimpses into domestic life, narrow arrow slits, strategically placed for archers, and the remains of the portcullis.

Today, although the castle sits in ruin, it remains a powerful presence on Wales’ expansive coastline. The spiral staircase of its surviving towers now leads to a vantage point offering panoramic views of the estuary.

The moss-covered ruins, captured by Glen Luchford, reflect the fortitude of the figure at the heart of the Spring Summer 2025 collection: the mythological banshee, rooted in the history of McQueen and the heritage of Creative Director Seán McGirr.

The collection set against the backdrop of the castle echoes the visceral, elemental nature of the banshee’s lore: ethereal and light with an unrelenting strength.
